We are happy to share with you news about several educational activities, interesting collaborations and concerts, as well as some music.
The Gracious Living…
Another live recording of ours is now online - Kurt Weill’s Ballad of Gracious Living from the Threepenny Opera, performed last April in the Israel Conservatory in Tel Aviv. We will publish a new CD including additional pieces from the concert soon; Until then you are welcome to put on your dancing shoes and listen:
Israeli music and young players in the front
In our upcoming concert tour we have the pleasure of bringing to our audiences the fruits of some of our meaningful collaborations both in the fields of education and new music.
It was only a couple of weeks ago that we performed israeli pieces by composers of all generations in the Tel Aviv Museum as part of the “Poem Ba’Lev” concert series. This time we will focus in pieces written more recently by members of the Israel Composers’ League. We have selected three compositions that will be played together along with Jean Francaix’s wonderful first quintet in a festive concert taking place in the Ran Baron hall in the Israel Conservatory on February 26th.

On the next day, February 27th, we will hold a masterclass for the young members of the Outstanding Players Program participants of the Jerusalem Music Centre. In the concluding concert the young players will join us for the performance of masterpieces for extended wind ensembles by Mozart, Gounod & Bach (With the kind support of the Ronen Foundation).

Working with outstanding young musicians
One more great educational project will take place in IASA - Israel Arts & Sciences Academy in Jerusalem. We will play the pieces of the highschool students written as a conclusion of an orchestration and composition workshop we’ve given there last month.

At the end of this short and intense tour, on February 28th we will play a concert in Ganei-Am offering a selection from our beloved repertoire. This would be another opportunity to hear our original version of Berio’s Opus Number Zoo with the brilliant direction by Ari Teperberg. It’s also Purim evening so expect some surprises...

A warm recommendation
The New Israeli Wind Quintet has been a significant source of inspiration for us. Some of this legendary group’s members were our personal teachers and they even instructed and worked with our quintet in several occasions during the years.
On February 23rd they will reunite for a special concert in kibbutz Eylon, warmly recommended!
