Greetings from China!

Dear Friends,

We are just about to end our first tour to the Far East, playing seven concerts all around China. We opened our tour in this vast and fascinating country last week with a performance in the wonderful Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing. From there we continued to Harbin, Chongqing and Chengdu, among other places. The connection with the local audience is an unusual experience for us. At the end of each performance many listeners cue for a signature, a photo and a word or two (trying to overcome the language barrier…). In addition we had the privilege to meet local musicians and students, teach them in master classes and play together .

This is an adventure full of sights, sounds, encounters and tastes that we are surely not going to forget.

A special guest from Japan

Right after the tour we return to Israel for two festive concert tours that are the ‘grand finale’ of our tenth season. In the first one we will host the international pianist Mari Kodama (Japan) for three performances: in Be’er Sheva, Ra’anana & the Mormon University in Jerusalem. Ms. Kodama is one of the world’s prominent Japenese pianists, enjoying a fantastic career both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. Together we will play Mozart’s marvelous piano quintet and sextets by Poulenc and Françaix, alongside one of the cornerstones of the quintet’s repertoire: Paul Hindemith’s ‘Kleine Kammermusik’.

In the second program we will join forces with thirteen talented players from the David Goldman Programme for Outstanding Young Musicians of the Jerusalem Music Centre. Together we will play pieces for extended wind ensembles: Mozart’s C minor serenade, Gounod’s ‘Petite Symphonie’ and the lovely 9 Pièces Caractéristiques by Francaix.

This is the third year of collaboration with the Jerusalem Music Center. We’ve worked with the young musicians throughout the year and we can’t wait to share the fruits of the joint music making with our audiences in Tel Aviv (Israel Conservatory), Jerusalem (Music Centre) and Rishon Le'Zion (Performing Arts Center).

This will be the conclusion of our very busy season – almost… On June 10th we will take off to Kazakhstan (!) to play a special concert together with players from the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. The main piece in the program is a chamber arrangement of Mahler’s fourth Symphony. Furthermore, on July 11th, as part of the Kfar-Blum Festival we will premiere our new children production, based on the piece by Sergey Prokofiev - Peter & the Wolf. In the show, directed by Ari Teperberg, we tell the famous tale ourselves in an original arrangement that combines acting and movement on stage. Save the date!

Some more memories from China....

Looking forward to seeing you soon!
