Dear friends,
It’s hard to believe, but in less than a month it will be two years since the war began. Our hostages are still not home, and our hearts ache. Alongside this painful reality, we return to playing and performing - hoping, perhaps, to offer a brief moment of respite for the soul.
Back at the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival
We began our season yesterday on the festival’s closing day at the YMCA Hall, performing Hindemith’s quintet - one of our favorites from the repertoire. Here is our recording of the piece from the very same stage exactly 12 years ago:
Sunset Concert at Jaffa Port
Tomorrow (Monday, September 15), at 19:00, we will perform as part of a new series produced by the Tel Aviv Municipality, taking place on the magical deck overlooking Jaffa Port. We’ll play lighthearted music from different eras, and you're welcome to join us for a glass of wine and a musical journey from Mozart to the Israeli band Kaveret.
Peter and the Wolf in Ra’anana
Our family-friendly musical show is back - this time at the Ra’anana Music Center. Join us on Saturday morning, September 20, at 11:00. This is the perfect opportunity to bring cousins and friends who haven’t yet experienced our unique version, directed by Ari Teperberg. Don’t miss it!

“Droga Dō” – International Collaboration in Tel Aviv & Warsaw
At the margins of Holocaust memory lies one of the most remarkable rescue stories of the previous century: the Sugihara List. In the summer of 1940, in Kaunas, then under Soviet occupation, Japanese Vice-Consul Chiune Sugihara defied his government’s orders and issued transit visas to more than 6,000 Jewish refugees - an act that opened a rare escape route from Eastern Europe through Siberia to Japan, and in some cases, onward to the Land of Israel.
Eighty-five years later, the DROGA DŌ International Festival retraces this journey - crossing geographic and cultural borders while re-examining and reviving historical memory through contemporary art, through music, video, art, and cross-cultural collaborations between artists from Israel, Japan, Poland, and Lithuania, with the aim of weaving together diverse perspectives.
In Polish, Droga means “path,” while in Japanese, Dō refers to a “way” or “principle,” but also to the first note of the musical scale. This multilingual play on words reflects the festival’s spirit.
The program features works by Jewish-European and Japanese composers of the 20th century, alongside an exhibition created in collaboration with the Department of Visual Communication at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
The quintet will be joined by guest artists: oboist Piotr Lis (Poland), flutist Ania Karpowicz (Poland), and Israeli pianist Shir Semmel. Performances will take place at Studio Annette, Tel Aviv (Saturday, September 20, at 20:30) and at the Jewish Historical Institute, Warsaw (October 4).
